In Modern Western society, there is an assumption that our stories, attachments, beliefs, and assumptions about ourselves, is what makes us who we are. Though that may partially be true, psychotherapy helps us discover our deeper, more authentic origins of what created these beliefs and assumptions that we have about ourselves.
Creating space in a relationship to uncover what lies underneath our defenses, can be vulnerable, uncomfortable, and is why we often avoid it. Psychotherapy lends a non-judgemental and open space to explore these depths that in time, will reshape your narrative to be one that is truly authentic to you. This happens when we learn the skills needed to build self-awareness, track negative patterns that shape false beliefs and stories about ourselves that have kept you disempowered and small.
My integrative approach to individual psychotherapy offers a relational and depth oriented framework that is held in a spacious container for you to discover what is authentic for you. It takes time to build a therapeutic alliance, a space where you can share vulnerably, openly, and authentically. My style is personable, boundaried, non-judgmental, direct, and when needed, challenging, (I am an East Coaster, after all). My approach is always client-centered and held with understanding that you are the expert of your own experience. The modalities I utilize are somatic and attachment-based focused, while integrating mindfulness, psychodynamic, and Jungian depth psychology, among other skill sets.
